The Northern Gateway Pipeline

Northern Gateway Pipeline
The inspiration for this painting came from a Globe and Mail article on June 30, 2016 regarding the fate of the proposed Canadian Northern Gate Pipeline designed to export oil from the Oil Sands to international markets. Check here for the article " Court overturns Ottawa’s approval of Northern Gateway pipeline".

A quote from this article: “The three-justice panel concluded that the Canadian Conservative government failed in its duty to consult First Nations prior to issuing a cabinet order approving the $7.9-billion pipeline that would deliver 525,000 barrels a day of oil sands crude to the West Coast for export to Pacific markets.”
